About Us

The roots of Qdos date back to 1990 when the company was established as a Tax and VAT specialist consultancy serving accountants and their clients in the East Midlands.

Experience representing clients in tax investigations, brought Qdos involvement in tax enquiry fees insurance and Qdos gained claims management contracts with numerous insurers in this very specialised area.

Qdos subsequently developed a branded provision of tax enquiry insurance, marketing the product to accountancy firms nationwide. Within a short period, Qdos became a leading provider in this field, bringing innovation and high quality of service to the market.

Qdos ambitions to expand the breadth of consultancy services were realised when Qdos developed a team of employment and health and safety consultants and litigators. This enabled Qdos to expand its range of services to include help lines, compliance support and employment tribunal representation.

A change of legislation involving the tax status of self employed contractors provide Qdos with considerable consultancy opportunities and Qdos rapidly became synonymous with services surrounding the infamous IR35 legislation. In particular, this highlighted the innovative nature of the company when Qdos developed Tax Liability Cover, a groundbreaking insurance product for contractors which not only covered professional fees but the tax assessed in the wake of a status challenge from the taxman. This area of provision has since expanded into the construction industry, where Qdos provide consultancy and insurance to main contractors.

With the widespread use of broadband internet, Qdos were quick to recognise that compliance solutions could be delivered in a more efficient and lower cost manner. Qdos developed QED on line which provides reference material, downloadable contracts, documents and forms on the subjects of tax, human resources, employment law and health and safety. Whilst competitors continued to send paper based alternatives on a subscription basis and suffered the expense and inconvenience of replacing pages each time legislation was updated, Qdos were providing e mail bulletins to alert clients to changes which were updated in live time. The QED on line service has been adopted by numerous trade organisation, affinity groups and insurers as additional benefits to their related services.

With growing experience in the insurance world, Qdos recruited city based insurance professionals to develop related insurance products and provides legal fees insurance as well as related business insurances to the specific markets that procure its services. QEDplus is an example of this and has heralded a provision of insurance through insurance brokers and their networks.

The consultancy activities of Qdos have developed into the realm of business training. Qdos provide seminars on taxation, human resource management and IT applications. Qdos has contracts with the Learning and Skills Council and elements of its training provision is government funded.

Qdos development and expansion has been rapid but controlled. Expansion of service provision with a strong emphasis on quality of service and a keen eye on innovative ways to develop products and services that meet ever changing needs, has enabled Qdos to be listed in the Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Awards for three consecutive years. Qdos employ over sixty staff mainly based from the UK headquarters in Leicestershire and with representatives based nationwide. Qdos have a strong staff culture with a generally happy group who regularly socialise. The staff has been hand picked to ensure continued contribution to the culture of "work hard play hard" and ensuring client’s needs are always met to high levels of satisfaction. Qdos provide regular client events including sponsoring seminars, charity functions and golf, rugby and other sporting events to which clients are regularly invited.

Qdos has expanded internationally and recently opened an office in Cape Town.
